General information about the ACCUPLACER assessment.
Who can apply for an Off Campus Accuplacer?
Applicants residing outside of VIU's Cowichan, Nanaimo and tiwšɛmawtxʷ campus regions can apply for the off-campus Accuplacer assessment.
Applicants living within the campus regions are strongly encouraged to write the Accuplacer assessment in person.
Payment Information
- The fee for an off-campus ACCUPLACER is $75 ($60 for a rewrite).
- Note: This fee is non-refundable.
- Assessments@viu.ca will email you after receiving your application form with information about your payment options.
- Upon payment, you will be sent a voucher number to be used to book the test date with Examity.com (Accuplacer's dedicated remote proctoring service).
- If payment is not received within 1 month, you will need to re-submit your off-campus request.
The online proctor service, Examity, is external to VIU and there are Two fees applicable when taking the ACCUPLACER remotely:
- VIU Assessment Services fee of $75;
- Online proctor service fee (US$25), payable by credit card to Examity when you book the date/time.
Remote Testing Requirements
You will need access to a private space with a laptop or desktop computer with high speed internet, microphone, speakers, and a web cam to complete the ACCUPLACER remotely in your own home.

Complete the online request form below as the first step in arranging your ACCUPLACER assessment at this time. You will receive an email with instructions for payment within two days of submitting your request.
