Darcy Minick, MA, CCC, Counsellor

Darcy Minnick

Hello, my name is Darcy Minick. I was born and raised in Nova Scotia, spent a number of years in Central Canada working as a counsellor, and am grateful now to be living and working on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw people.

Practicing within the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association’s guidelines, counselling is identified as a relational process based upon the ethical use of specific professional competencies to facilitate human change. Counselling addresses wellness, relationships, personal growth, career development, mental health, and psychological illness or distress. The process is characterized by the application of recognized cognitive, affective, expressive, somatic, spiritual, developmental, behavioural, learning, and systemic principles, all within a collaborative, developmental, multicultural, and wellness perspective. Pre-existing strengths and resourcefulness, and the therapeutic relationship are central mechanisms of change; the approach is holistic, client-centered, and acknowledges social context and culture while considering internal factors, individual differences, and familial/systemic influences, pursued with sensitivity to diverse sociocultural factors unique to each individual. We will work together to enhance and promote your positive growth, well-being, and mental health.

My previous experience includes living and working in a residential community for over 8 years, practicing within various community counselling organizations, and working in private practice in Central Canada. Since 2015, I have volunteered on the National Program Committee for the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. A particular area of interest for me is the effects of and recovery from various types of trauma.

I am certified as a Clinical Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I look forward to meeting with you.

Darcy.
